The Face

Some things just make memories, leave an indelible mark on a part of your life. I remember gourging myself with oranges on a hot summer day in Potch, under a tree on a Saturday, with my tape deck blasting some 90’s music. I remember reading my favourite magazine at the time The Face.

I don’t remember how The Face landed in my life but it quickly became an obsession. Riveting reads, impeccable content, vibrant visual feasts, and an alternative way of thought from what seemed to be a whole other world, London.

So this is a tribute to The Face, provocuteur of my thoughts! 1980 -2004

KISS KISS KISS

I was once kissed by a boy and I heard the universe call my name in that kiss - So inspired, destroyed and resurrected by it, he sent me this mind blowing poem by Saul Williams:

“Have you ever lost yourself in a kiss?

I mean pure psychedelic inebriation. Not just lustful petting but transcendental metamorphosis when you became aware that the greatness of this being was breathing into you. Licking the sides and corners of your mouth, like sealing a thousand fleshy envelopes filled with the essence of your passionate being and then opened by the same mouth and delivered back to you, over and over again - the first kiss of the rest of your life.

A kiss that confirms that the universe is aligned, that the world's greatest resource is love, and maybe even that God is a woman. With or without a belief in God, all kisses are metaphors decipherable by allocations of time, circumstance, and understanding”
Saul Williams, , said the shotgun to the head.

If you've ever been kissed like this...you'll know what he's talking about

Love and Politics

So last night was a lesson in love and politics. Can these two very different ideologies coexist and can love flourish under opposing political views? I don’t know but what I do know is that LOVE is highest power but can it survive the battle for humanity?

Maria Shriver and “I’ll be Back” Scharwazenegger seem to have the perfect union despite their opposing views, 25 years, a maids child and an almost divorce but still going strong. The lesson here is to let EGOSDEMISE.

And what about author Kola Boof and her long term love affair with Osama Bin laden? Kola is a womanist, a Afropolitan and liberated woman in relationships while Osama came from a culture of subservient woman, who are suppose to submit their sexuality, intellect and identity to men and religion. It makes me wonder. Especially with her radically empowering ideas about women.

Is it worth it? Love is always worth it

P.S E you are worth it

Breaking My Virginity

The only constant thing is change - expect anything from sunglasses to policy maker profiles - I'm a whole person, I have no obsession except with life - but whatever i post will keep you posted

Today is a special day for one of my favourite artists of all time. His work moves me - juxtaposing the femme fatale image with a battered soul. His work is a personification of a resilient woman that is in every woman!

This woman is fragile, seductive, rebellious, full of love and pain, fearless and haunting. She's a hunter, she's spirited and most of all, she's a womanist.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRIAN. M. VIVEROS FOR GIVING BIRTH TO THIS WOMAN! I am she...

XOXO
